A PLAY area for small children at a children's centre in Chippenham has been given a new lease of life with an all-weather surface thanks to Cotswold Homes.

The developer, who is building 12 private homes on the Chandler Mews estate, helped the Rise Trust with the refurbishment, allowing toddlers to stamp all over the new timber decking.

"This is a huge improvement and the children love their new play area," Elaine Stewart, The Rise Trust’s children’s services lead for Chippenham and Corsham, said. "Our aim is to encourage children to learn through play.

"The Rise Trust supports, empowers and enables parents and children to overcome their challenges making life better for the whole family."

Terri Hayes Pugh of Cotswold Homes added: "Not only is The Rise Trust a neighbour of our Chandlers Mews development but it is a very worthy cause. As a company we take our social responsibility seriously and welcome opportunities to put something back into the communities in which we work.

"When we saw how the old play area at the Children’s Centre in The Oaks became unusable in wet weather we did not hesitate to help out with the cost of installing the new year-round surface of timber decking."
