CHILDREN in Corsham got messy last week as they ran through trays of paint and sawdust to raise money for Save the Children as part of their Muddy Puddle Walk event.

Around 50 children under the age of five took part in the sponsored Peppa Pig walk, which was held under the beaming sunshine in Corsham Cricket Club on Wednesday, May 10.

"It was a lovely day and we had the most wonderful weather," childminder Mavis Rose said. "The Corsham Childminders group meet up once a week to do something together and we usually do a sponsored event every year and we have raised over £500 for Save the Children in this event, with more money coming in.

"We had ten sensory trays during the day with things like water, paint, sawdust, grass and leaves strewn about the cricket club for the children to run through and they loved it."

Organisations around Wiltshire also contributed to the event's success from a funeral directors, a printing company and cinema, much to the delight of the childminding group.

"Bewley & Merrett Funeral Directors hired the cricket club and paid for it for us, Trowbridge Cinema gave us the cardboard cutout of Peppa Pig and lots of stickers for the children, Corsham Print did all the prints for us and Sainsbury's gave us 50 packs of their Lego cards which was wonderful."
