OLYMPIC silver and double Commonwealth gold medal swimmer Sharron Davies will be one of a five-person strong panel advising businesses in Wiltshire on the benefits of harnessing sport leadership and management techniques developed for the Games.

The Higher Futures free event, which will be held at the Springfield Community Campus, Corsham on March 22 from 5.30-7.30pm, will be led by the Institute of Leadership and Management, which undertook the research, and will be discussed with representatives from the academic, sport and business community.

Higher Futures broker Jo Mills said: "A lot of value can be placed on transferring leadership and management skills from an extremely pressurised environment like the Olympics into the workplace.

"The top athlete and the business manager operate in different environments, however, both strive to attain the ultimate performance levels whilst maintaining the health and welfare of the athlete or in this case the employee.

"This event will open up debate on how business professionals can learn valuable techniques and apply these to their own organisation."
