DISSAPOINTED with the lack of snow, the community in Colerne got together to throw their own fake snow day inspired from white January's in years gone by.

After waking up to a small sprinkling of snow on Friday morning, villagers took to social media to vent their anger, sparking the Six Bells Inn landlord Joe Costa to encourage others to share their pictures of previous year's in the hopes of convincing local schools and employers to close for the day.

"When I took over the pub a few years ago, one of the first things I was told was that when it snows, the whole of Colerne gets snowed in," he said. "The old boys kept asking me if I had plenty of beer and lots of chips in!

"Obviously we are quite high up here so everyone was bracing themselves for snow this morning and the kids and the adults did not want to go into school or work, so we went to stock up just in case but then Natalie came into work with a face full of thunder saying it was not going to snow.

"Everyone had a moan on social media so I said let's have a fake snow day and post pictures of the snow in previous years so we can tell the world that it did and everyone was up for a laugh."

Although dozens of villagers shared their dismay through pictures and memories, they have got their fingers crossed for snow in the near future.
