A CORPORAL who helped create one of the Ministry of Defence's most important cyber security operations centre in Corsham has been honoured with a prestigious award.

The Churchill Medal Award was presented by BAE System's senior military advisor Sir Glenn Torpy and Air Marshal Julian Young to Corporal Bernard Donoghue at the Institution of Engineering and Technology on Friday, November 18 for his work leading the development of the highly advanced cyber tool in Corsham which is used to correlate data to analyse cyber events on systems across the MOD.

Corporal Bernard Donoghue said: "To have been awarded the Churchill Medal Award is an absolute honour, an honour I share with my colleagues at the Joint Cyber Unit Corsham. Receiving the award was a supremely proud moment, especially in the face of such fantastic engineering feats as those achieved by my fellow finalists.

"It was only made possible by working within such an exceptional team, for which I am extremely grateful. I would like to thank all those involved in making it a day I will certainly never forget."

The medal was awarded jointly by the IET, the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Institution of Royal Engineers, the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Society of Operations Engineers.
