James Gray MP has teamed up with actress Jenny Agutter to fight for Corsham Station in Parliament.
He met the Railway Children star in Westminster this week as she is patron of a campaign called Transport 2000.
"My work in Parliament this week has been quite railway orientated," admitted the MP. "On Tuesday, I asked the Transport Secretary, Douglas Alexander, whether he supported the re-opening of Corsham Station.
"Yesterday, I wrote to him as he suggested, so that he could see the letter of support I received from the Defence Secretary, his colleague Des Browne, and decide whether or not he would add his support as well."
He added: "I was also fortunate enough to meet Jenny Agutter yesterday morning, who has starred in two films of The Railway Children.
"Needless to say, she was hugely supportive of re-opening our local railway station."
