PEOPLE in Corsham are being invited to give their views on a £2.5m proposal to transform Mansion House into a new centre for start-up and small businesses focusing on digital innovation.

Springfield Community Campus will host the consultation event on Thursday, November 10 from 12-7.30pm where a number of displays will share information about the proposal, which will benefit from the Government's Local Growth Fund secured by the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership, before a planning application is submitted later this month.

As the owner of Mansion House, Wiltshire Council will carry out the redevelopment if approved and extend the capacity of the house to accommodate a number of micro and small businesses that focus on digital solutions in industry and society.

Leader of Wiltshire Council, Baroness Scott of Bybrook, said: "The Mansion House will help create an entrepreneurial atmosphere and generate opportunities for collaboration and business growth, which is a key priority for Wiltshire Council. Businesses looking for space at the Mansion House will be buying into more than just workspace, it will be home to growing companies who can share ideas and work together."

It is hoped that the redeveloped Mansion House will provide support to the town which has a growing reputation as a digital communications and technology force with the Ministry of Defence's intelligence centre at the core.

John Mortimer, vice-chairman of the SWLEP board, said: "The SWLEP sees this project as crucial to improving the digital technology offering of our local area. Enhancing the digital sector is a strategic objective for the SWLEP and this initiative will help us achieve that by bringing businesses, academia and the community together into one space to discuss and co-create digital solutions that could mutually benefit them all and the local community."

An update on the redevelopment project will also be shared at the Corsham Area Board meeting on Wednesday, November 23.
