A Corsham photographer who took photos of Corsham's transformation into 18th century Truro for the first series of Poldark has released a book entitled When Poldark Came to Corsham.

Armed with a camera, Andy Rose leant out of his bedroom window on Church Street to snap the stars for four days in May 2014 which were turned into cards, fridge magnets and now a book.

Mr Rose said: "I live in Corsham where the filming took place and I work as a photographer so I took some photos not knowing what I was going to do with them. Then I started to make things like cards and fridge magnets which sold really well, so I put all the photos together and put them in a book.

"The town council had an exhibition displaying photos from the production and some of their own so I went and had a look and I thought I could do better, so last summer I displayed my photos at the Tourist Information Centre and they were up there for a couple of weeks and my greeting cards started to go down well."

The photographer, who has also photographed other TV series filmed in the area also sells his merchandise in the heart of Cornwall but says the Aiden Turner things sell the most.

He added: "Four or five days after Poldark went we had The Suspicions of Mr Whicher come but it didn't have the same appeal as Aidan Turner - a lot of the merchandise is Aidan Turner or nothing!"

When Poldark Came to Corsham, which has 72 pages with 75 all colour photos and five chapters, is selling well on Etsy, with more than 60 copies being sold in under a fortnight.

"The books started to land on peoples doormats last week and we have had a positive response so far and because of the extra stuff in the book, I think it is quite interesting."

At his book launch on Wednesday evening, Mr Rose thanked the Corsham contributors who helped him write, design and publish the book documenting another part of Corsham's growing film and TV history.

When Poldark Came to Corsham is available for £14.99 online and from Corsham Book Shop and Corsham Post Office.
