DANCE, dance wherever you may be, Corsham School's dance show raised £550 for the Cancer Research UK charity.

On the evening of Wednesday, June 6, around 100 people came to watch the performance which featured a range of styles such as ballet, 1920's dances and contemporary dance.

All of this was made possible through the work of three Year 11 pupils, Nancy Hayday, Ellie McDonald and Abigail Rylance, who organised the show which proved to be a big success.

Nancy said: "We wanted to organise a charity dance show to raise money for Cancer Research UK – a cause close to our hearts – by bringing people together through dance.

"Abigail, Ellie and myself are so grateful for all the support we have had from the school and from everyone who attended or donated. We are so pleased with the money raised."

In addition to the dances, guests were treated to a mixture of solos, duets and group displays from pupils aged 12-17 - all of which was choreographed by GCSE and A Level pupils.

The three Year 11 organisers, who have now finished their Dance GCSE, had started an after-school dance show in January for the younger students, so others had the opportunity to explore their talents.

The dance show was a culmination of their efforts – conceived with the objective of raising money for Cancer Research UK.

They successfully did this, raising the total from the sale of tickets and refreshments, in addition to asking for donations towards the cause.

After the show, assistant head teacher Marcus Chapman, said the performance was the, "Best dance show I have ever seen."
