THEATRE group and charity Shakespeare Live have donated £500 to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance off the back of another successful year of performances.

Fresh after the success of performing some of William Shakespeare's most famous plays in Corsham and Lacock last weekend, the amateur theatre group are spreading the joy across Wiltshire to mark 400 years since the death of the great writer.

The donations comes from a surplus made from performances over the last 12 months, along with a theatre charity in London and Swift Medics.

"They are a great charity doing vital work in Wiltshire and are a very very worth cause," said Shakespeare Live trustee and director, Gill Morrell.

"We are spreading the joy. We are on a bit of a role at the moment. We love what we do and we would not have it any other way.

"We have been going for a long time now, getting more than 2000 people a year to watch an amateur show is great and we are very happy to help causes like these.

"It is a very exciting time and is an absolute privilege to do."

Shakespeare Live, which has been going for 28 years, were pleased to be able to present the donation to Dennis Davies of Wiltshire Air Ambulance during their rehearsal on Sunday, April 24 at Wiltshire College, Lackham House.

After six back-to-back performances on Saturday in Corsham and Lacock, the eight-strong cast were straightaway plunged back into 'The Tempest' which will be performed at Lackham from July 4-9.
