NESTON Preschool Playgroup has something to celebrate after shooting up from ‘inadequate’ to ‘good’ following an Ofsted report last month.

Just six months on from scoring a disappointing inadequate, the preschool has completed an impressive turnaround, having risen two scores to a good rating.

The four-day-a-week preschool, established in 1972, vastly improved its effectiveness of leadership and management, teaching quality and outcomes for children.

"We are delighted that our grade is back to what we all feel reflects the quality of our preschool provision,” said Neston Preschool Playgroup joint chairman Jo Aldred.

"To get a report that we deserve for all the hard work we have put in is very rewarding and a bit of a relief. Now we can move on and strive for that excellence that I know we have in us.

"The place has bounced back exceptionally well. We have made the changes, we have superb support from the community and we are continuing to grow.

"It is a lovely feeling. We were waiting every day and now that it is over we can build for the next one in a few years time and aim for that outstanding grade."

The preschool was given an inadequate rating by Ofsted in October due to a single incident where it breached Ofsted's safeguarding policy but since then the playgroup has tightened that up policy, according to Mrs Aldred.

"We have made the changes, embraced it and we are a better place for it than we were in October."
