WILTSHIRE'S largest model railway exhibition this weekend has moved to Corsham, after nine years of being held at Melksham’s Christie Miller Sports Centre.

Trainwest, which has around 60 stands and 26 working model railway layouts, has found a new home at the Springfield Community Campus, and has also merged with the Chippenham Model Railway Show ahead of the big event.

Organiser Geoff Endacott said: “We are very pleased we have secured a venue in a brand new facility, so let us make the best we can of it.

“The campus were eager to host an event so I hope they are pleased to have us. This place really fits the bill.

“There is only room for so many model railway shows in the same area. The Springfield Campus is just four miles from Sheldon School, so it did not seem to make sense to have two annual model railway shows in such close proximity.”

The move was bolstered by the fact that the campus can cater for several hundred cars in their car park.

Discount tickets for the event on Saturday and Sunday, which save £2 at the door, are on sale from reception at the Springfield Community Campus. They can also be bought from Gas Cupboard Models in Trowbridge.
