A 19-YEAR-old entrepreneur who bakes cakes is celebrating successfully hosting an affordable wedding fair in her home town.

Nearly 100 visitors, including 30 different local businesses, came to the Corsham event run by of Keileigh Birkett, owner of Keylicious Cakes, at the town’s community campus. She was showcasing her wedding cakes, with other firms displaying their wedding products and services.

“It was a great success. I really did not expect it to exceed my expectations in the way it did,” she said. “I am already looking forward to the next one which hopefully will go ahead in September, it is all very exciting.

“It was lovely to hear such positive feedback when you put a lot of planning and effort into something you care a lot about.”

Miss Birkett had the idea for the fair after realising that she could not afford to go to wedding fairs costing hundreds of pounds, so she organised an affordable one where businesses could hire a table for to advertise their produce at just £15 a table.

“The hardest bit is to find businesses to come along but after this one pretty much all of the businesses have said they will come to the next one which is great,” she said.

The teenager single-handedly began baking and sugar craft as a hobby in 2010, but after demand for her cakes grew rapidly, the then 17-year-old decided to open up her own business and has not looked back since.

Her mother Melissa Birkett said: “I am very proud of her. She is a workhorse and she has a phenomenal business head on her but also considers others too in regards to the affordable side of it all.”
