CORSHAM mums have banded together to set up a Scoop the Poop campaign after finding large amounts of dog poo on their morning school runs.

The group has been calling on children to send in posters for an art exhibition. The winning entry will become the poster of the campaign.

Campaigner and mum-of-three Hannah Waters, 40, said: “The kids have got really into it. We have had more than 100 posters in so far and we have just a week more to go until the competition finishes.

“We started it because the dog mess in Corsham has really got too much.

"There was somebody cleaning dog muck out of their garden on a regular basis and throwing it over their back fence which accumulated into a mound and splattered all over someone's front gate.

“Loads of people have got involved. All the primary schools have been helping us out. Corsham Primary invited in a dog warden from the Dog’s Trust and gave a talk on responsible dog ownership.

“We are going to have all the art work on display at the Springfield Community Campus and are going to make sure that every child gets their art work seen.

“There are also a lot of dog owners involved in our competition. It is really not an anti-dog owner campaign at all.”

Entries for the campaign have now closed and the art work will be on display from February 15 to March 13. The winner of the competition will be announced on February 15.
