ALL 240 pupils at Colerne Primary School have run the Race For Life to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.

They followed a course around the village and back to the school, running between 1.5 and 3km depending on their ages, on Friday morning.

The lives of many children and teachers have been affected by cancer, so the whole school decided to do something to help beat the disease.

Teacher and event organiser Nicola Brennan said: "It was brilliant. The kids really wanted to raise cash for this particular cause as it is something that touches all of us at some point or another.

"We did not do it as a race, we just wanted to get all the kids involved. They all got a medal and they all really enjoyed it."

Teacher Ruth Holden helped organise the day, and the money raised will be counted on November 5.

Mrs Brennan said: "The parents have been amazing, they lined the path that the kids were going to run so that they could do the race and they have been really supportive throughout.

"We did something for Remembrance Day but some of the children came to us and said they wanted to race as they had experienced problems with cancer."
