ARTS and craft enthusiasts can now reside in Corsham’s first ever craft emporium and tea room which opened its doors just a fortnight ago.

All The Pretty Things has been on the High Street for a number of years but after a new space became available, owner Helen Way, 44 from Staverton said she took the opportunity to expand – much to the delight of her customers.

“Originally I had just a craft shop down the High Street but when this place became available, I just knew that it was for me and it was a dream come true really,” she said.

“For years I have always wanted some sort of business where people could read a book and have a cup of tea but tie in crafts because a cuppa and crafts go hand in hand.

“People often have a place at home where they can be creative but it is always difficult to be inspired when you are by yourself and so I created this place so that people could come here, do their crafts, have a cup of tea and speak to other people in the process.”

Ms Way, who has spent much of her career working in the music industry, added that she has always had a keen interest in craftwork and learn about how people use it while working at a dementia care home in Trowbridge.

Ms Way added: “We used to have an art therapist there and I was fascinated by how she used to engage with the residents and how inspired they were to create things – that paired with making costumes for my daughter at her school made me realise I really enjoyed it and then I started selling my work at craft fayres and it's gone from strength to strength since then.

“The support from people has been amazing and it has actually been really overwhelming to see so many people getting behind the new shop,” she said.

The shop and tea room also offers people the chance to attend regular weekly events including their popular ‘Knit and Natter’ session.

With a dedicated workshop space, Ms Way added she will be expanding the classes on offer to include a sewing surgery which will be launched in November.
