A PLAY celebrating women who have championed women's rights is taking place in Corsham Town Hall on Thursday.

The Orchard imagines a meeting between Suffragettes Millicent Fawcett and Emmeline Pankhurst and explores what happens when opposing political forces come together.

It is the second time the drama group Dreadnought South West has visited Corsham and the new play will give locals the opportunity to consider the importance of voting, democracy, equality and women’s voices. The previous performance in 2013 called ‘Oxygen’ celebrated the Great 1913 Suffrage Pilgrimage.

Tickets start from £6 and can be bought on the door. There will be the opportunity to take part in a post-show debate with the playwright, director and cast.

They are also holding a free work-shop on Thursday from 2.30 to 4pm on stories on women activists.
