DANCING has been the talk of St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Corsham after pupils put their moves to the test during an exclusive class with Diversity star Ashley Banjo.

Thirty youngsters travelled to the dance group’s studio in Rainham, Essex, yesterday where they got the chance to bust some moves and learn a routine to song Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

This was all part of the prizes the school won after pupils Joe Rudland, 11, Lilli Gibbings, 10 and Aisling Massaccesi, nine, took part in a live cook-off in London to win their category in the Sainsbury’s Active Kids Superstar Cooks competition.

The students also had a peek at the props and outfits the dance group wore during series three of Britain’s Got Talent, which they won in 2009.

Teaching assistant Teresa Lynch, who helped the pupils create their winning dish of Bonfire Bangers and Mash, said: “The anticipation really was upmost in their minds, it is all they had been talking about and it was everything they had hoped for.

“It was absolutely brilliant, the children were so engaged and took it really seriously and the routine was something they could all do.

"They will be talking about it for the rest of the week and we are going to teach the routine to the rest of the pupils and we are hoping to do a show at the end of term."

The youngsters also got the chance to have pictures with Mr Banjo and were given certificates and T-shirts.

The other prize for winning was £10,000 to put towards improving the school's kitchen and equipment.
