Tickets are now on sale for the Box Pantomime Group’s performance of Jack and the Beanstalk.

It is the story of a kingdom being plundered by the giant and his wife. To make some money for their family, Jack and his sister Silly Jilly go to the market to sell their family cow for five gold pieces.

The hapless duo are tricked into swapping her for five ‘magic’ beans. What happens follows the well-known fairy tale but with a twist.

The village panto group has been running for more than 30 years and it hopes this year’s show will be another success.

Emily Knight, who is playing Silly Jilly, said: “It’s a great local pantomime for fun and laughs and a big tradition in the village – it’s the highlight of my year.”

Tickets can be bought at Stop Press Post Office shop in Box and cost £6.50 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Shows run at the Selwyn Hall, Box, from February 18-21. They start at 6.30pm next Wednesday, 7.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 1.30pm for the Saturday matinee.
