A 20-year-old pizza restaurant manager from Corsham has scooped £1million on the EuroMillions Mega Friday draw.

Michael Marshall discovered he’d won the life changing prize after the Friday night draw and he spent the rest of the evening in disbelief, checking and rechecking his numbers with his girlfriend Kelly Larter.

Mr Marshall said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw that I’d won, in fact, I still can’t. I couldn’t stop laughing on Friday night - my girlfriend thought I was joking. We had a bit of a late night on Friday; celebrating and talking about how to spend the money.”

That wasn't the end of his good fortune as the prize also included a luxury, all expenses paid trip to Australia.

The couple are planning to take their Australian holiday in the New Year, when they will fly business class to Australia before spending two weeks traveling round the country visiting some of its most famous landmarks including the Sydney Opera House, Ayres Rock and the Great Barrier Reef.

When he returns from the all expenses paid trip, Mr Marshall, who currently lives with his parents, is planning to buy his own home as well as a new one for his mum and dad nearby.

The first purchase Mr Marshall is planning though is a new car to replace his 20 year old Ford Fiesta.

Mr Marshall has worked for restaurant chain Stone Willy’s Pizza for over a year and he handed in his notice as soon as Camelot confirmed his win.

He said: “I’ve given up work for now while I work out what I want to do career-wise but I will return to working eventually.”

Mr Marshall is also a football fan and a lifelong Liverpool supporter who hopes to go and see his beloved team play now that he won’t be working weekends.

The National Lottery changes the lives of winners like Michael as well as communities across the UK – players raise, on average, over £33m for National Lottery-funded projects every week.

In Wiltshire there have been 2,560 individual National Lottery grants made to date, funding projects across the arts, sports, heritage, health, education, environment, charity and voluntary sectors.

Mr Marshall bought his winning EuroMillions ticket from Pickwick Papers in Corsham.
