CORSHAM Regis Primary Academy is celebrating the recognition of their hard work through two awards and a good rating in its Ofsted inspection.

Headteacher Gareth Spicer said he is thrilled with the progress the school has made since becoming an academy in January 2013.

The inspection gave the school an outstanding rating for behaviour and safety; it praised “pupils’ tolerance and kindness to each other” and highlighted how the “teaching is consistently good across the school.”

For the school to receive an outstanding rating overall, the report has suggested the school focus on the children’s writing.

Mr Spicer said: “We want to celebrate the progress that our children have made and we feel the judgement that was made is a reflection on the journey we’ve taken so far.

“The Ofsted inspectors couldn’t say enough good things about our children, so I wanted all the hard work of the parents who fundraise recognised and also the work of the teachers and support staff who do a wonderful job. It’s very positive and we want to celebrate it with everyone in the community.”

The school has also been awarded an International School Award for the links it made with foreign countries. Pupils sent letters and artwork to pupils in China.

Staff have also been given a Ruth Miskin Award for their teaching as part of a scheme called Read Write Inc.

New Astroturf has also been laid and new play equipment installed thanks to £1,000 raised by the Friends of Regis.

Next on the agenda for the school is what Mr Spicer called an “iPad revolution” to incorporate the technology into lessons.
