The neighbourhood policing team has not only got a new base but has also added a new face to the team.

The new PCSO, Alan Byrne, started his role on Monday and will be part of the rural beat focusing on Box, Colerne and Lacock as well as other villages in the area.

PC Byrne said: “I am really excited, I can’t wait to get involved with the team, can’t wait to meet members of the community, just get started and grow a bit of a rapport with the local people.”

Sergeant Nick Cooke welcomed PCSO Byrne on board, saying: “He’s an excellent addition. We are quite a busy team and it’s a massive area that we cover so it’s good to have another member of the team and we are looking forward to working with him.”

The new base at Springfield Community Campus is also proving to be a hit with the team, Sergeant Cooke said.

“It’s a fantastic new building, excellent surroundings and a fantastic place to meet members of the public,” he said.
