Checked shirts, cowboy hats and dogs wearing bandanas were all part of the fun at Gastard’s Wild West fete.

More than 400 people went along to enjoy the village’s annual event, which had a host of activities such as magicians, balloon modelling and racing games.

Children were entertained with an inflatable slide, glitter tattoos and a fancy dress parade, while skittles, a coconut shy and a beer tent were on offer for adults.

Debbie Anstis, treasurer for the village hall, said: “It went really well. The weather was beautiful it was just lovely that everyone turned up.”

Twenty members of the Corsham Youth Concert Band entertained visitors while the chairman of Corsham Town Council, Ruth Hopkinson, was treated to a ride around the arena in an open top American Mustang.

A novelty dog show also took place, which consisted of 12 categories including best local bitch, the dog the judges would most like to take home and the dog with the waggiest tail.
