Families had the chance to see inside a fire engine and police car as part of an emergency services event.
Organised by the Barnardo’s Children’s Centre at Rudloe Community Centre, Corsham, the event last week aimed to make children feel more comfortable around uniformed officers from the emergency services.
Playworker Stephanie Scholtz said: “A really important factor of the day was for the children to get to know their local police and firefighters that they are approachable, that they are friendly and not scary.
“It went really well, really successful. We had 138 people in the end.
“We did it last year and it was really popular but the fire engine didn’t turn up so a lot of people were disappointed but the fire engine came this year and everyone was really happy.”
Demonstrations and advice were given by police and the St John Ambulance to parents, while children got the opportunity to push buttons and sirens as well as dressing up and sticking bandages and plasters on dolls.
