Army Cadets from Corsham had a unique view of military life in London last week, when they went behind the scenes at the Household Cavalry.

Cadets aged between 12 and 18 from the Corsham Army Cadet Force toured the regiment’s Hyde Park Barracks, to see the stables, forge and saddlery, where ceremonial uniform and tack is stored for state events such as the Queen's Birthday Parade.

They then watched the Life Guards form up and ride out, before going to Horse Guards Parade to watch the Changing of the Guard.

After watching the ceremony the cadets visited the Regimental Museum to learn more about the history and background of the Household Cavalry.

Corsham Detachment leader, Mark Perrett, said "We were very lucky to be invited to visit the Regiment and have the chance to see what goes on behind the scenes, something that the public rarely get to witness.

“The cadets had a great day out and they all remarked that they left with vivid memories of the sights and smells of the day."
