Woman's Chippenham car park death no longer suspicious

The death of a woman whose burned body was found at Sainsbury’s in Chippenham is no longer being treated as suspicious by police.

The body of the woman, who was in her 40s, was discovered in the car park of the Bath Road store at 3am on Tuesday. It was so badly burned that initially it was not possible to tell if it was a man or a woman.

A police spokesperson said this morning: “We are confident that we know who the deceased woman is and her next of kin have been informed.

“Formal identification has not yet been completed but we will issue an update as soon as possible. The circumstances of this untimely and sudden death continue to be investigated on behalf of HM Coroner for Wiltshire but we are no longer treating the death as suspicious.”
