Public to view business park plan

Plans for a new business park to the south of Chippenham are to be shown to the public for the first time.

Land at Showell Farm, near the Lackham College roundabout, has been earmarked by Crest Strategic Projects for a 40-acre employment site.

The land has been identified as a possibility for development by Wiltshire Council’s core strategy.

Official plans will be submitted to the council later this year, but the company is opening up the proposal for public scrutiny in the coming weeks.

Draft plans can be seen at Lackham House, at the college, on Wednesday, June 27, between 2pm and 8pm.

The developers will be on hand to answer questions from the public.

A Crest statement said: “Crest’s commitment to promoting this land, and to make it readily available for business uses, is a welcome move which should encourage confidence and investment and job creation in the area.”

Brilliant news!
Now let's wait for the councillors to ruin it.

Crest fail to mention this scheme is opposed by virtually everyone: local Lacock and Notton residents; Parish council; chamber of trade; Chippenham independant traders association; National Trust; Campaign for Rural England etc
There are much better sites for employment land around Chippenham.

This might make some sort of sense if there wasn't already a surplus of business accommodation in Chippenham. As there is a surplus, this plan seems nuts.
It would make more sense to build houses on this land.

Wiltshire Council won't let "sense" get in the way of yet another brain dead decision.
Don't forget - Wiltshire Council "Where everybody matters - but nobody cares".

Once again the council will run a public consultation, and then completely ignore the results and give permission.
