The Jubilee may have come to an end, but the party spirit will keep going as residents of Kington Langley celebrate with their popular scarecrow festival.

With more than 65 scarecrows on display, the theme of the event is ‘best of British’, and all the profits will be donated to charities and local causes.

Steve Howe, who is on the organising committee for the event, said scarecrow makers have already had a training session.

“We wanted to celebrate all things British in this year of Jubilee and London Olympics,” he said.

“A concert by The Village Singers at St Peter’s Church opens the festival on June 15 at 7.30pm. The main scarecrow trail opens on June 16 and 17. The visitor who can guess the most scarecrow titles will win £100.”

There will also be a barbecue, a Pimms tent, a Box Steam Brewery beer tent, a craft fayre and children’s activities. There will be a ceilidh at the village hall with the Jellied Reels band at 8pm on Saturday.
