More than 130 primary school children from four Chippenham schools, Charter, Ivy Lane, King’s Lodge and St Mary’s, will sing with the internationally-acclaimed Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at St Andrew’s Church in Chippenham on Wednesday March 21 at 5.30pm.
The concert is the grand finale of a project between the schools, orchestra and Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon.
The children will sing a choral piece called Anthem For A Child after workshops in their classrooms with the orchestra.
The 22-strong orchestra will also perform Vivaldi and Bach during the hour-long concert.
Keith Nimmo, artistic director of the Wiltshire Music Centre, who has co-ordinated the outreach project, said: "It’s not every day that children get to perform with a world class orchestra! We hope to do further work in Chippenham schools.
"It’s a great week for young people and music in Chippenham, with this concert and the CLOGS Musical Theatre Sound of Music at Neeld Hall.’
