Strange lights over Chippenham

Comments (2)A Gazette reader has emailed us after seeing strange lights over Chippenham town centre.
He said: "Has anyone else reported strange lights (not fireworks) emanating from the town centre (as viewed from the West of town) heading upwards and in a North West direction. These lights occurred between 12:05 and 12:25am 01/01/09 and were witnessed by several members of my family.
"They were not displaying flashing aircraft warning lights, were as bright as Venus and travelled slowly in a straight line eventually fading from view. Three were also visible simultaneously moving from a triangular shape to a perfect line over the course of a minute. Just for the record I have had just one pint all night! Just interested if anyone else has mentioned this and don’t want to make a fuss!"
