Woman is victim of sex assault in Chippenham

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted as she walked through Bath Road car park in Chippenham in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detective Constable Jo Spencer of Wiltshire CID said the woman was walking on her own through the car park when she was attacked.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault.

He is currently being held in custody for questioning at Melksham police station.

More foot patrols by the police are clearly needed in the town centre with all these assauts and muggings occuring

More police patrols would be helpful, of course, but the solution is more straightforward.
In short, what has happened to chivalry? I have never, knowingly, let a woman get into that situation. Even if I have had to drag my wife/girlfriend with me, I would walk her home or to a taxi, bus or train.
I would question those who were with her that evening and ask what they might have done to prevent it. The woman in question should not have been walking alone at that time of night.
