Police to tackle violent crime

Police in Chippenham have vowed to stamp out violent crimes after nine were reported in just two weeks.

Of the nine incidents, eight of the offenders were either arrested or issued with fines.

Sergeant Martin Alvis of Chippenham Police said that the arrests should act as a stark warning to anyone else that gets involved with violence in the town.

He said: "This is one of our top priorities and we will do everything in our power to stamp these sorts of crimes out.

"We take violent crimes extremely seriously and act in every way to bring offenders to the full force of the law.

"I would urge anyone with information on any crimes to contact us immediately.

"All information will be treated in the strictest confidence."

Anyone wishing to report a crime should call Chippenham Police on 0845 408 7000.
