FURNITURE makers William Hibbert and Samuel Baker are celebrating after their company was crowned as winners at the Bath Life Awards.

Forest to Home, which has a workshop and showroom in Bowden Hill, Lacock, won the Homes and Interiors category of the prestigious awards.

"We are absolutely delighted," Mr Hibbert said. "We weren't expecting to win at all but we have had a good year with projects ranging from local commissions through to feature pieces for Nandos.

"To be recognised for something we are so passionate about, within such an incredible city and among such inspiring finalists really is an honour."

Mr Hibbert, who did Sports Science at Bath University, set up the bespoke furniture workshop with Mr Baker, to help share their passion for the environment and creating a sustainable future.

Using locally sourced timber and other materials, the pair handcraft unique pieces of furniture that tell a story of the natural world, while fitting the briefs of their clients.

"We always wanted to make sure that we could stay true to our beliefs, so we have a Forest Preservation Project," Mr Hibbert added.

"That means we only purchase British wood from a sustainable source ans we support Fund Growth in Britain to plant five trees in the country for every piece of furniture that we sell."

The pair, who want to expand their business locally next year, have also just opened their new show room in Lacock which is by appointment only.
