TWO raiders, who were responsible for stealing more than £70,000 of cash from ATMs across Wiltshire and Bristol, have been jailed.

Matthew Dunster, of Doone Road, Bristol, was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court yesterday (Tues) after he was found guilty of the theft of an ATM in Castle Combe on October 9, 2017, and the attempted theft of an ATM at Bristol Road Service Station in Allington, on September 21, 2017.

The 28-year-old was also found guilty of an ATM theft in Bishopston, Bristol, on November 2, 2017 and the attempted ATM thefts in Backwell, Bishopston and Dundry in September last year.

Ross Terry, 28, of no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to four counts of attempted theft and the handling of stolen goods and was jailed for two years.

DC Jo Chesshire, of Wiltshire Police’s Community Tasking Team, said: “This was a complex investigation which involved two prolific offenders who were committing serious crimes across two counties.

“The two incidents in Wiltshire involved a car being used to rip the front of a cash machine in Allington, and flammable substances being used to cause an explosion at the cash machine in Castle Combe.

“Not only was a large amount of money stolen during the thefts, but the nature of the thefts meant it was lucky that nobody was seriously injured.

“I would like to commend a number of officers who worked hard on this investigation and our colleagues over in Avon and Somerset for a fantastic result.”
