A YOUNG driver has been arrested for a number of driving offences following a car crash in Chippenham.
Officers arrested the 22-year-old man after a Ford Fiesta collided with a parked vehicle in Westminster Gardens at around 4pm yesterday (Tues).
The man, who was detained by an off duty police officer, failed a roadside drugs wipe test and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug, driving a vehicle without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, taking a vehicle without consent, driving a vehicle while over the prescribed limit of a controlled drug and being unfit to do so.
He was taken to Melksham custody and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
