PATIENTS recovering from illness and injury at Chippenham Community Hospital will now be able to use new gym equipment thanks to a donation from the League of the Friends.

Lady Lansdowne, patron of the hospital’s League of Friends, helped unveil the new heavyweight cable machine, which cost £1,000, on Friday.

The machine will allow the physiotherapy team to help build their patients’ strength and conditioning in a safe way.

Vaughan Mizon, the chairman of the Chippenham Hospital League of Friends, said: “We are pleased to be able to provide this item of strength and conditioning equipment and are confident that it will help people return to their normal lifestyle.

“The funds to purchase this and other items comes from money kindly donated to the hospital via the League of Friends.

“If you would like to help the League of Friends continue to support those that use Chippenham Hospital, please contact me on vaughan@mizon.net.”
