HUNDREDS of antiques and collectables will be auctioned off at the weekend in Wessex Auction Room's first Christmas charity event to raise money for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

The auctioneers plan to give a pound from every lot sold on Saturday to the Trust, which looks after 38 reserves across the county and supporting people to live more sustainability.

"We have never done a charity auction at this time of year before but it will be business as usual for us," director Tim Weeks said. "We have more than 800 antiques, collectables and furniture up for grabs and there's always a good atmosphere here, but we'll have decks and festive treats on the day too.

"I am proud to live in Wiltshire and I have young children who are into their animals, so I got in touch with the Trust who took me out to a few of their reserves where I found out it's not just about wildlife, they also do a lot with children and provide a support network.

"I've become quite passionate about them and the work they do and I really hope people get behind it."

The viewing day for the auction will take place from 10am-8pm on Friday (December 8), with the auction starting from 10am the following day.
