A CACHE of suspected class A drugs have been removed from the streets of Chippenham after police stopped a 37-year-old man in his car.
Officers stopped the man in his Vauxhall Zafira, which was being driven along Malmesbury Road at around 7pm last night (Wed) where they found the drugs stashed under the driver's seat in cellophane and bags.
The 37-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, has been released under investigation while enquiries are carried out and the suspected drugs are tested.
Inspector Mark Luffman said: “This was a great example of some of the proactive policing taking place within our communities.
“The drugs seized are expected to be worth several thousands of pounds, although we do not have an exact value at this early stage.
“I am pleased that we have been able to seize suspected class A drugs and make one arrest. I’d like to reassure members of the community who suspect drug activity in their area to contact police – we do not underestimate the negative impact drug activity can have on a neighbourhood and will always act on information we receive.”
