Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Chippenham last weekend.

The incident happened between 4-4.30am on Saturday October 14, when the 27-year-old lady was walking between Downing Street and Canterbury Street.

She was approached by two men, one of the men tried to push her before fleeing the scene. She sustained minor injuries to her stomach.

The second man was believed to be slightly younger, approximately 5 ft 11 inches tall, of skinny build and was wearing dark jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Cat Kirkham said: “Fortunately, the victim sustained no serious physical injuries as a result of this incident.

“Although this incident happened in the early hours of the morning, it took place in a residential area. We have carried out house to house enquiries but I’d appeal to anyone who has not yet spoken to police who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity to contact police on 101.”
