SNOW HILL, near Lyneham, has been described as a danger spot by residents following the crash in which one man died and anotherr was seriously injured in the early hours of this morning.

The area on the A3102, in the village of Goatacre was closed for several hours this morning as police cleared the crash scene.

A VW Golf crashed off the road at around 2am, killing a rear passenger and causing serious injury to the front passenger. A third passenger and the driver suffered minor injuries.

Tara Stoddart has lived on nearby Stonehill her whole life and described the road as a danger spot on the rural road.

Responding to the tradgey she said: "It is dangerous, I keep asking the council to put a path in. I have a four and five year old, we can't even go for a walk without going in the car.

"This road is so dangerous.

"I've lived here all my life and we have seen some awful accidents."

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: "A 20-year-old man has died following a collision on the A3102 Snow Hill, Goatacre.

"The incident happened at approximately 12.50am this morning.

"A Volkswagen Golf was travelling south along the road when the collision happened. No other vehicles were involved.

"Sadly, one man, who was a rear seat passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

"The male front seat passenger sustained a serious arm injury. The male driver and other rear seat male passenger sustained minor injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Volkswagen Golf prior to the collision should call the Tri Force Roads Policing Unit on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
