RESIDENTS and motorists in Chippenham are being warned that the work on the Bath Road railway bridge will start in two week's time.

Network Rail will be making repairs to the brickwork and damaged stone, as well as removing weeds and improving the drainage system during the work, which will take place from Monday, September 18 until Monday, November 13.

A diversionary route will be in place for motorists along the A350 between the hours of 8pm and 6.30am from Monday to Friday, except on Monday, September 25 when the bridge will remain open. Pedestrian access will not be affected and the bridge will remain open to traffic at the weekends from Saturday at 6.30am until 8pm on Monday.

Roy Neve, project manager for Network Rail said: “I’d like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding ahead of this essential refurbishment work at Bath Road as part of our Railway Upgrade Plan.

“Letters have been distributed to those living near the Bath Road bridge to inform them of the details of the work before it gets underway.

“Residents with any questions or concerns about this work can contact our 24/7 helpline on 03457 11 41 41.”
