A 45-YEAR-OLD man from Chippenham was arrested last week for possession with intent to supply class A drugs following patrols in the area.
Police from the Community Policing Team and a special constable followed the man, who was acting suspiciously in St Mary's Street at approximately 2.30pm on Wednesday.
Police eventually stopped the man in Wood Lane and found several wraps of class A drugs hidden in his underwear.
They also discovered £670 in cash and two mobile phones.
He was taken to Melksham custody and has since been released under investigation.
PC Haydon Papworth, of the Wiltshire North Community Policing Team, said: “We will not tolerate drug activity of any kind in our county - drugs can have a really negative impact on local communities as they are often associated with anti-social behaviour and violence. We are determined to stamp it out.
“We would encourage members of our community who suspect drug activity in their neighbourhood to report it. We often rely on information from the community and will always act on information we receive.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
