ROTARIANS from Chippenham swung into action during the annual Golf Classic day where they raised a huge £10,000 for children’s hospice charity Julia’s House.

Members of Chippenham Rotary Club met with volunteers of Julia’s House in Devizes on Friday to present the cheque from their most successful golf day yet, which took place in late April at the Manor House Golf Club.

“Julia’s House is a fantastic charity with their Devizes facility and staff providing practical and emotional support for families in Wiltshire caring for a child with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions,” said president Richard Meek, who nominated the charity for his Rotary year. “Many congratulations to Rick Squires and his team for running a really successful event again this year which has raised such a large amount for the charity.”

The Classic Golf event was the 12th of its kind and was well supported by around 100 golfers, 23 hole sponsors and donors of prizes and auction lots including prizes for a champagne lunch at the

Savoy Hotel in London and a days coastal cruise for two on the historic MV Balmoral.

Community fundraiser Liz Froud said: “The Rotary Club of Chippenham has been a great supporter of Julia’s House and we are always bowled over by their fundraising ideas and the enthusiasm they show for the work we do. We are really glad to hear their Golf Classic went so well and we are incredibly grateful for all their hard work.”
