SHELDON School pupils are appealing for jazz players in Chippenham to come forward and help them put on a performance which will raise money for charity.
Jazz on the Green, which is being organised by pupils from the school, will take place on June 24 in the playing fields.
But after a last-minute drop out, the band are looking for other people to come forward to help with the performance.
Money raised from the event will go towards Jessies Fund, a charity which helps disable children through music therapy.
Trevor Sparrow, business studies teacher at the school and who will also be playing the jazz drums, said: “The sixth formers have organised it and 80 per cent of the money raised will go towards Jessies Fund and 20 per cent will go towards refurbishing the school library.
“It’s a toe in the water event, we’ve not done anything like this before.
“We have a number of talented musicians but for one of them it fell on the same weekend as Glastonbury and she didn’t realise her mum had bought her tickets.
“We’ve managed to patch it up but what I was thinking of doing is just putting a few feelers out there to see if anyone wanted to come forward.
“We’re looking for a keyboard player and sax bass player and we’ll accept anyone as long as it’s people who have an interest in it, such as Dave Brubeck's Take 5.
“We’re also looking for an opening act which could be jazz related.”
Anyone interested in performing can contact the school on 01249 766020.
