A SERVICE will be held in Chippenham this Sunday to offer support to residents living in the town and in memory of Russell Nixon, who was found dead in a street earlier this week.

The 38-year-old was found on London Road on Wednesday morning with serious injuries where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Nixon had attended the Chippenham Christian Fellowship Church which was only just around the corner from his home on Derby Close, and a service will be held form 10.30am this Sunday.

Pastor of the church, Keith Wilson, said: “Russell had been coming to us for about a year on and off and we also run a communal meal at the end of the month which he regularly attended.

“We will be remembering in prayer the whole community and in particular the area where it happened.

“Anyone wishing to come along our doors are open to anybody and everybody.

“Remembering Russell will be part of our service on Sunday morning to talk about him and his life.”

Matthew Chapman, aged 22, of Wood Lane, Chippenham, has been charged with his murder and has been remanded in custody after appearing at Bristol Crown Court today.
