HARDENHUISH School in Chippenham has once again be rewarded with the International Schools Award for the second year running.

The award was presented by Chippenham MP Michelle Donelan and John Rolfe from the British Council Schools team.

During their visit, pupils discussed the importance of incorporating an international outlook in the school and also on three subjects which have been undertaken by the school.

Year 9 pupils Ellie Davey and Georgia Smith led an overview of Project Warhorse, which is run over three years and looks at recent battlefield visits and links with partner schools from other countries.

Year 11 pupils Matthew Dempsey and Rachael Mytton were part of a team of four who won the WGEC Young Entrepreneur’s Challenge after using peanut casings to create a sustainable fuel source for use in the Gambia and discussed their idea.

And sixth form students Caleb Shaw and Joe Groves concluded the visit with a discussion about how becoming part of the Model United Nations team at Hardenhuish School has influenced their personal development and awareness of global issues.

Joe Wood, associate assistant headteacher said: “We were delighted to be presented with the award by Michelle Donelan and John Rolfe.

“We, as a school, are committed to providing opportunities to pupils to further their understanding and learning through a variety of different educational experiences.

“The award recognises the hard work and dedication from our pupils and students on international focussed projects that they have been a part of.”
