CHILDREN and their families enjoyed the sunshine and a variety of activities when they attended the Barnardo’s Redland Nursery and Holiday Club annual fun day.
Emergency services including police and fire were just some of the attractions at the event on Saturday (April 1) between 10am-2pm.
Parents and their children were able to meet Marshall Paw Patrol and enjoy a wide range of attractions including animals, face-painting, arts and crafts, a treasure hunt and field games.
Tracey Major, manager of Barnardo’s Redland Nursery, said: “It went very well, we had between 150 and 250 people come and we had some families from Swindon, some from Corsham and Calne.
“We had new families as well as current families and having the emergency services there was really helpful.
“It was just such a beautiful day and all the children had a lovely time.
“We have held an annual fun day before but we wanted to make it more of a community event.
“We had the Barnardo’s pop-up shop there in conjunction with our shop in Salisbury where they were able to bring some their children’s clothes to sell.”
The event managed to raise £130 which will go towards Barnardo’s, who help children in poverty and support young carers.
Redland Nursery was opened by Barnardo’s in 2004 and was judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted, with praise for the ‘outstanding’ personal development of its children.
It welcomes all children including those with additional needs and its opening hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm.
