A JOKER from Chippenham livened up a shopping trip by swapping display photos for ones of his own wedding.

Mischievous Alastair Colley, 34, of London Road, Chippenham, says he hates shopping, and was only persuaded to take his wife and step-daughter to the Bristol store when they promised to buy him meatballs from the Swedish store's cafe.

So he put into action a prank he dreamt up over a year ago, after his last visit to the Eastville store, and armed with a pocket full of photos, he replaced "posey" display pictures in unlocked showroom cabinets for ones of him and his family.

Railway worker Alastair then messaged his wife and stepdaughter a photo of his prank.

He claims to hate shopping "just like a typical man" but was determined to make the most of the trip.

Once the trio finished their meals, his wife Karen Colley, 49, and stepdaughter Lauren Webb, 25, went off looking for a double bed for her new flat - leaving devious Alastair on his own.

They were separated for less than 30 minutes when Alastair managed to pull off the funny prank.

He said: "I was meandering around until I found some photo frames.

"I took them off the shelf, nobody batted an eyelid, then just took the photos out and replaced them with the ones from my pocket.

"I brought with me two photos I had which were on our wedding day - we got remarried in October 2014 as a celebration of 10 years of marriage.

"I then messaged my wife and daughter, when I found them they were laughing their socks off.

"No jokes is funnier than your own. I was only gone half an hour, it does not take me long to get up to mischief.

"I do like to pull pranks like this. It's important to laugh a lot in life. Whatever prank I do, it's always done in good humour."

The pictures were still on display at the weekend, and were spotted by a family friend who sent the Colleys a picture of herself holding one of their wedding pictures.

The photo swap is the latest in a string of pranks which date back to his childhood.
