A CHIPPENHAM dog lover will be hoping her pooches are barking up the right tree as they enter Crufts next week.

Claire Prangle will enter two of her four Irish Setters in the show competition next week, three-year-old Glory and eight-month-old Dollar.

The 49-year-old is hoping that she can repeat her success from last year, after Glory won his category in what was her first win at the competition.

“I’ve been placed most years but the win was so just so special last year as it was my first show back after going through cancer treatment so it was quite emotional and special,” said Miss Prangle, of Bristol Road.

“You never know what’s going to happen, as they say it’s the best of the best and just showing there is wonderful.”

Crufts is the world’s largest dog show and attracts thousands of people every year, with dogs taking part in a range of categories including best in show, dog agility and obedience.

“It’s a hobby but my dogs are pets first and show dogs second,” added Miss Prangle, who works as a supervisor at Wiltshire Council.

“What I like about Crufts is it’s a beautiful atmosphere, we do call it the League of Nations as you have people from all over the world there and I’ve made so many friends.

“I wouldn’t show my dogs if they didn’t enjoy it but as soon as I get my show bag out they are almost dancing, they get so excited.”

The competition will take place from March 9-12 at the NEC in Birmingham.
