A CARE home in Chippenham, which was branded inadequate following an inspection, has claimed that measures are being put in place to rectify the issues.

Ferfoot Care Home, which is managed by Caring Homes Health Care Group, was found to be failing in a number of areas including its safety, responsiveness and how it was being led, following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The inspection, which took place in September 2016, found that there were “not enough staff to meet people’s needs safely and effectively at all times” and that “medicines were not always safely managed”.

It also found that some people received little interaction or stimulation and that people were “not sufficiently supported to minimise their risk of developing pressure ulceration”, as well as not being led well.

A spokesman for the home, which cares for up to 52 people, said: “The health and wellbeing of residents is our number one priority and we take feedback from the CQC very seriously.

“Immediately after the inspection took place in September we put in place a range of measures to address all of the points raised.

“In the four months between the inspection and the publication of the report those measures, which include additional training and improved shift arrangements, have been enacted.

“We continue to work closely with the CQC and care commissioners, and look forward to welcoming the CQC back to visit the home soon.”

The care home, in Old Hardenhuish Lane, was previously found to be failing in two areas following an inspection in May 2015 and at previous inspections in 2014 there was a shortfall in care delivery.
